This course provides a practical introduction to resolving the key issues faced by managers. The certificate consists of four components taught over 12 hours:

Managing disciplinary and grievance procedures - 28 February 2018 (18:00 to 21:00)

at the end of this component, delegates will be able to:

• Apply techniques to resolve issues formally

• Undertake an investigation

• Manage and conduct disciplinary and grievance meetings

• Determine appropriate action and handle appeals

Managing attendance, organisation and time - 07 March 2018 (18:00 to 21:00)

at the end of this component, delegates will be able to:

• Implement and conduct return to work discussions

• Effectively handle difficult conversations

• Respond to requests for flexible working

• Coach and mentor your staff

Conducting appraisals - 14 March 2018 (18:00 to 21:00)

at the end of this component, delegates will be able to:

• Apply principles of performance management

• Identify development needs and propose training solutions

• Deliver constructive feedback

• Draft and set robust objectives for yourself and others

Effective delegation - 21 March 2018 (18:00 to 21:00)

at the end of this component, delegates will be able to:

• Prioritise workload for yourself and others

• Identify and overcome barriers to delegation

• Develop approaches for giving and reviewing work

• Apply skills management techniques to motivate you and your team
